The white paper provides an example of the type of patent intelligence we carry out for IP firms that want to know more about patent filing habits and preferences of their own firm, their clients or their competitors. While we delve into much more detail for these projects, there is much to be learned from the basic trends that are identified through this patent searching.

The paper focuses on general trends for European patent applications filed by the top 10 UK and the top 10 German firms. In addition, priority countries of the European applications were analysed in order to provide information on the locations of the firms' major clients and the industries in which they operate, as well as highlighting potential preferences for reciprocal arrangements between firms in different countries.
